July 2025 Newsletter
Welcome
Welcome to the July newsletter and this month we start with good news. A new antique shop is shortly opening up in Hungerford and Moorcroft pottery has been purchased. June was an interesting month at auction with some high prices achieved. Shortly we will be moving into holiday season which generally is a quiet time for antiques industry but here's hoping this year may buck the trend. Have a good month.
New Antique shop opening in Hungerford
Following the closure of the Emporium at the end of May, I am pleased to report that a new antique shop will open shortly in Hungerford and I am currently trying to agree a deal so that I will be able to hire some cabinet space to display my items. More news to follow in the August Newsletter.
Moorcroft Pottery Update
Following the closure of the Moorcroft pottery in recent months, this month I can report on the good news that it has been announced that William Moorcroft's grandson has bought the Company and intends to re-open and continue to produce Moorcroft pottery.
June Auction results
Fieldings auctioneers held their Decades of Design sale on the 13th June and a small single owner collection of the 1974 catalogue textured range vases came up for sale, It included 3 Nipple vases pattern no. 9828 fetching between hammer price £2,100 and £3,900 each. A Sage Rocket vase pattern no. 9825 also fetched a high price at £3,600. This is indicative of the current demand for this particular year of Geoffrey Baxter's design.
Woolley and Wallis held their Fine Arts and Crafts sale on the 18th June and had a large collection of Martin Brothers stoneware come up for sale plus some very interesting Moorcroft pieces. A Carp vase by William Moorcroft came back to auction and broke its own auction record selling for £25,000 hammer accompanied by another Carp vase fetching £20,000.
Whitefriars Fake vases
Following on from my newsletter for June where I first highlighted the worrying trend on more fake Whitefriars vases turning up at auction and also especially on eBay. Last month I added a section about a fake onion vase, in meadow green, to my website. This month I have an aubergine hooped vase.
Coming soon...
Lots of work is currently ongoing on my website adding more stock to each section and new stock will be added once acquired.
I have recently managed to buy some of the original Whitefriars drawings that I will be adding to my website very soon.
If you have friends or acquaintances who you think would be interested in receiving my monthly newsletter get them to check out my website and hopefully they would be keen to sign up.
