August 2025 Newsletter
Welcome
A warm welcome to all. August is fast upon us and holiday season is in full swing. A date has been set for the opening of the new shop in Hungerford. A glass fair has been announced and some interesting auctions to look forward to.
New Vintage & Antique shop opening in Hungerford
Faulkner and Booth Vintage and Antique shop is expecting to open on the 16th August 2025. It is a small Antique and Vintage shop run by the previous manager of the Emporium. It will be open 5 days a week and is located further down the high street on the same side as the Emporium.
I will be renting a cabinet to mainly display Whitefriars textured range but also I will have some Lalique, Moorcroft and Clarice Cliff.
Art Deco
2025 is the centenary year for the Art Deco movement. Its name derived from the, "Exposition Internationale des Arts Decoratifs et Industriels Modern" exhibition of 1925. It was a style that emerged in the 1920's and 1930's influenced by modern technology and exotic cultures.
It was the time of Rene Lalique, William Moorcroft and the age of Jazz. The time that Clarice Cliff was experiencing new things happening in the world that helped to mould some of her inspirations and ideas for her Bizarre ware.
Upcoming auctions of interest in August
August is looking to be a quiet month on the auction front. Peacocks in Bedford has some nice textured range Whitefriars coming up and Chiswick auctions has a haemorrhoid vase in their early August sale.
